If making music is cutting the paper and making good music is cutting the paper in a good straight line, I would say start cutting the paper right away. If you keep on adjusting your position to check if it's correct now, to cut in a straight line, you'll never be able to figure it out as you're never standing or positioned outside the paper, you're placed in the middle of nowhere so there is no anchor from which you can gauge your position. At such moments, your actions function as that anchor and compass, so start with it immediately.
As for making the right music no one knows what is right, there is something that is widely acknowledged, and then there is something that feels good and sounds good. No one has to tell you what music you will make. So, start cutting the paper and make your own straight line.... for yourself :)
