How to take a decision : Data driven

This is a live case study about me wanting to change my job field and something which I would have decided earlier based on how I was feeling, this time though I wanna talk to people and take a more structured approach.

Description of my position:

Like mine is a small company, and I'm somewhat promised a good role and an increased pay as I'm already over 10 months in the company, but the thing is, the level of work that I'm currently doing is not of a very high level and I'm unconvinced of how much value that would provide, in the long run. To sum it up, I won't be able to answer a why should I hire question just yet. I haven't learned that or done that kind of problem-solving work. So I would have to waste another 6-7 months easily before I'll be handed some high level work. Also I'm looking for a change in work environment so that I could test myself in some other setting and see how well I adapt. After 2-3 work experience I want to sit for my CAT and GMAT.

So the work that I wanna be doing I want to look at them with MBA lenses.

What are my goals: Only Two Goals

1. Learning(0.5) : So that when I leave my job at any point of time in the future I should be able to fend for myselves with the skills that I've learned

2. Brand Value(0.3) : Well this one's a no brainer, but I'll still explain. More credibility in what I can do and thus more self confidence irrespective of how good I actually am

3. Money(0.2) : I'll go with the wise people here, don't chase money early in your career. Even though I somewhat want money in my life right now, please notice how I said "want".

So lets set the agenda right away:

1. Me being from an engineering background, naturally wants to go back to it, so I want to take reviews from my classmates who are working here. 10 classmates are a good enough sample size. I'll update what they said later

What are they learning, what is the future scope and whether what they're learning is transferable to other businesses.

2. Take note of my own market value by talking to:

  • Industry Seniors
  • Company Seniors
  • 5 Interviews for the same position and see what can I get in terms of job responsibilities and pay too :)
  • 5 Interviews for the a higher position and see what can I get in terms of job responsibilities and pay too :)
3.

Further I want a few more abstract questions:

So let me summarise my whole problem

Like mine is a small company, and I'm somewhat promised a good role and an increased pay as I'm already over 10 months in the company, but the thing is, the level of work that I'm currently doing is not of a very high level and I'm unconvinced of how much value that would provide, in the long run.
